The Dignity-EAT is a new resource designed to help residential care providers, designers, and policymakers evaluate and improve residential environments for people living with dementia. It has been developed in alignment with the Dignity Manifesto so that the values and principles contained in the manifesto are given due consideration in the planning of modifications to residential care environments.
The Dignity-EAT has been created through extensive consultation with signatories of the Dignity Manifesto and is built on established best practices in dementia enabling design. It is designed to guide reflection, inform decision-making, and support continuous improvement—but it is not yet a valid tool and should be used as a framework for discussion rather than a definitive measure.
To support users, we have developed a comprehensive introduction to the tool, detailing its development and intended use, as well as a scoring spreadsheet to assist with assessments. We invite all those committed to dignified design for people living with dementia to explore these resources, use the tool, and contribute to its ongoing refinement.

We encourage signatories of the Dignity Manifesto to engage with the Dignity-EAT, explore its principles, and consider how it can help advance dementia-friendly design in practice. Your insights and feedback will be invaluable in strengthening its impact.
